Financial Services is responsible for the budget development and
management process; receipting, disbursing, accounting, and reporting
of all University funds; and the procurement of goods and services.
Financial policies and practices are governed by Federal and State laws
and University policies. The following departments fall within Financial

Budget Office
|
The Accounting Services Department is responsible for all
university disbursements, both from state and local funds.
Additionally, the department is responsible for the university
payroll operation, fixed asset accounting system and the Equipment Trust Fund.

The Budget Office provides the primary support and analysis to
university leadership in fiscal and budgetary policy development
and coordinates the preparation of the State biennial budget
request process.

Materiel Management and Contracts
|
Financial Reporting is responsible for ensuring the integrity of data in
the automated accounting system by reviewing and recording account
adjustments, preparing university financial reports, reconciling
financial data to external sources, and monitoring tax compliance.

Materiel Management and Contracts ensures compliance with the Virginia Public Procurement Act
and state policy and procedures in procuring goods and services, including the administration
of contracts and agreements, the diversity purchase program, warehouse activities, and surplus
property operations.
